NEUROLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Definition
Is an evaluation of of a person's nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that connects these areas to other parts of the body.

Six areas of assessment
Mental status-assessing normal orientation to time, place, space and speech.
Motor-assessing for tone, drift, and heel and toe walking
Cranial nerves-checking eyes with special light source(ophthalmoscope ) and also assessing facial muscles strength functioning.

Indications

If possible, determine the precise location of the problem
Screening for the presence of discrete abnormalities in patients at risk for the development of neurological disorders.
