Major Characters Macbeth By: Eve Hutchison
Lady Macduff
She was married to Macduff.
She was murdered by the same people who killed Baquo.
Her ambition was to be a good mother to her child.
"I hope in no place so unsanctified / Where such as thou mayst find him."
The three witches
They were the prophets who told Macbeth how to gain power.
They didn't die but helped cause many deaths in the play.
Their ambition was to help Macbeth gain the thrown.
"Double, double, toil and trouble"
Malcom
The oldest son of King Duncan
He doesn't die but he ends up getting the throne due to Macbeth's and King Duncan's death.
His ambition was to rule Scotland.
"By the Grace we will perform in measure, time, and place"
Banquo
Macbeth's first ally.
Macbeth had instructed other people to follow through with a planned murder.
His first ambition seemed to be to help Macbeth however, he ends up changing and wanting to prevent Macbeth from his plans.
"Cursed thoughts that nature / gives way to in response!"
Donalbain
He was the youngest son of King Duncan and heir to the throne.
He doesn't die but he goes to Ireland.
His ambition is to rule but then he later focuses on surviving due to the fact that he may inherit the throne.
"Separated fortune / Shall keep us both the safer"
Lady Macbeth
She was married to Macbeth.
She ends up killing herself off stage.
Her ambition was to help Macbeth keep his power so that she may one day be Queen of Scotland.
"Air drawn dagger"
Fleance
Son of Lord Banquo
He escaped his plotted murder.
He only wanted to survive the murder.
"O, treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly"
Macbeth
He was married to Lady Macbeth and was the general of Scotland's army.
He was killed by Macduff in battle.
His ambition was to take the throne.
"If chance may have me king, why chance may crown me without my stir"
King Duncan
He was the King of Scotland.
He was killed by Macbeth due to the fact that he wanted the throne.
His ambition was to continue ruling.
"No more that Thane of Cawdor shall deceive / Our bossom interest. Go pronounce his present death / And with his former title greet Macbeth"
Macduff
He was married to Lady Macduff and kills Macbeth.
He doesn't die but he kills Macbeth.
His ambition was to be a hero and save Scotland from tyranny.
"The power of man, for none of woman born / Shall harm Macbeth"
