Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT)
If we type in sentence to be translated it could give a translarion that is different to what the original sentence means.
CAT goes some way to overcome these issues
A type of language translator that uses specific software to improve the translation process These are:
They are linguistic databases that grow and "learn from other translation being carried out.
They automatically insert known translations for some words, phrases or sentences.
All CAT software needs post-editing to remove errors from the translation process.
They are not perfect, but they are certaily more accurate than online free translatiors.
Artificial enviroment that is created by a software that ginves the user a sense of reality or a feeling of "being there".
It can be used for education, training or games.
It is used in the following areas:
3-D and holographic imaging
Holography is a technology that allows 3-D images to be produced, they are known as holograms.
It involves the use of:
Iterference of light
A source of laser light
Light intensity recording.
When a hologram is rotated it appears to rotate in the same direction as the original object, making it seem 3-D.
The hologram is produced first by splitting a laser beam, half of the light that is known as the object beam is reflected off the object to a holographic plate.
The other half of the light is reflected from a mirror to the holographic plate. The image is produced when both light beams meet in the holographic plate.
Holograms have the following functions.
Special effects for gaming.
Holographic computer memories
