Micropthalmia
Definition
Is an eye abnormality that rises before birth, in this condition one or both eyeballs are abnormally small.

Pathophysiology
• The more commonly seen micropthalmia can result from a problem in development of globe t any stage of growth of the optic vesicles
• Occurs when the neuroectoderm of the primary optic fails to develop from the anterior neural plate of the neural tube during embryological development
