GUILLIAN- BARRE SYNDROME
DEFINITION
• a rare syndrome in which
• body’s immune system
• attacks you own nerves
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
• weakness and tingling of extremities
• are the very first symptoms
• as the exact cause is unknown
• the sensations spread quickly
• eventually paralysing whole body
CAUSES
• Exact cause unknown
• Usually appears days after
• A respiratory or GIT infection
CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
• Prickling sensations
• Weakness in your legs
• Unsteady walking
• Difficulty with eye or facial movement
• Severe pain
• Difficulty with bladder control
• Difficulty with bowel function
• Rapid heart rate
• Low or high blood pressure
• Difficulty breathing
