Anatomy of male and female reproductive structures
MALE
includes the penis, scrotum, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, prostate, and seminal vesicles.
FEMALE
the uterus, which hosts the developing fetus, produces vaginal and uterine secretions, and passes the anatomically male sperm through to the fallopian tubes; and the ovaries, which produce the anatomically female egg cells.
hormones of the reproductive system
Testosterone
promotes sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.
Progesterone
produced mainly in the ovaries following ovulation each month, crucial part of the menstrual cycle and maintenance of pregnancy.
Luteinizing hormone
controls the function of ovaries in females and testes in males,
