DEFINITION
Laryngitis is the inflammation of the larynx due to it being over worked, irritation or infection.
CAUSES

CHRONIC LARYNGITIS
Inhaled irritants e.g. chemical fumes, smoke.

DIAGNOSIS
LARYNGOSCOPY
The doctor uses a light and a small mirror to visualize at the back of the throat checking the vocal cords.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY

The inflammation is due to the larynx being over worked, irritation or infection.

RISK FACTORS
Cold, bronchitis or sinusitis.
Smoking cigarettes, increased alcohol intake.
