Mutation
-
-
Mutations occur when mistakes are made duing transcription or replication of DNA. Mutations usually happen when chromosmes break or when nucleotides on a chromosme are changed, inserted, or deleted.
-
Point Mutation- less serious, effect depends on how mutation changes the genetic code. Silent Mutation- mutated codon codes for the same amino acid. Missense: mutated codon codes for a different amino acid. Nonsense: mutated codon is a stop codon that stops protein synthesis early.

Radiation- UV radiation:, X-RAYS
Germline mutation- can be passed onto the offspring of the oraganism. Only germine muattion can change offspring.
Somatic mutation-not serious. Only occur in one cell and its daugther cells.Mutation can't be passed onto offspring.
Muations affect the genetic material. The effect can be a chromosomal alteration, point mutation, or frameshift mutation
Chromosomal- happen when part of a chromsomal breaks off and doesn''t rejoin correct.
Serious Mutation-Result in death or serious genetic disorder.
Types of chromosomal alterations: deletion, duplica-tion, inversion, insertion, translocation
Neutral Muattions, Beneficial Muatation, Harmful
