CLINCALMANIFESTATIONS
• Eye pain
• Sensitivity to light
• Blurry vision
• Tearing
• Mucus discharge
• Red eye
• Inflamed eyelids
PHARMACOLOGY
• antiviral eye drops e.g. acyclovir
• antiviral ointment
• antiviral drugs
HEALTH EDUCATION
• encourage patient to stay home while healing
• educate patient and family proper hygiene
• advice about follow-ups
• install importance of finishing full course of treatment
NURSING CARE PLAN
• assess the eye and vision
• monitor vital signs, temperature
• provide a calm and comfortable environment
• use proper PPE and disinfectant equipment
• install eye drops and ointment as prescribed
TREATMENT
• epithelial keratitis treatment
• stromal keratitis treatment
• antiviral medication
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
• Fluorescein eye stain test
• Analysis of sample of cells on eye surface
