NURSING CARE PLAN
Pain
Give analgesia and anti inflammatries
Nurse patient in comfortable position
Determine cause of pain and treat according
use of a warm heating pad or an ice pack for discomfort
Monitor child for relief of pain and any side effects of medication
Deficient knowledge regarding condition
Assess parent’s current knowledge
on the condition
Explain possible causes of conditions
Address stereotypes and concers regarding condition
Assist parents to plan measures to decrease the chances of recurrent OM
Disturbed auditory perception
Reduce unnecessary environmental noise.
Assess client’s hearing ability. Ask an older child to describe hearing loss
speak in a loud and clear voice and look at the child when talking.
Types
Chronic otitis media
An ear infection that results in tearing or perforation of the eardrum
Serous otitis media
Serous Fluid builds up in the middle ear
Acute otitis media
The middle ear becomes inflamed and infected
