CAUSES

This fluid can be infected due to allergies, cold, flu,or sinus infection.

DIAGNOSIS
OTOSCOPE
The doctor looks inside the child's ear using an otoscope to observe for redness, swelling, blood, pus or fluid.

Taking medication such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and acetaminophen (Tylenol).

SURGERY
ADENOID REMOVAL
Removal of adenoids once they become enlarged or infected the doctor may suggest for them to be removed.
EAR TUBES
Involves the insertion of tiny tubes inside child's ear to allow for drainage of fluid and air from the middle ear.
