Common cause variation:Common cause variation is fluctuation caused by unknown factors resulting in a steady but random distribution of output around the average of the data.
Repeatability is the variation due to the measurement device. It is the variation that is observed when the same operator measures the same part many times, using the same gage, under the same conditions.
A Gage R&R study is used to assess the measurement systems for collecting continuous data and assessing the accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility of a continuous measurement system and allows you to determine the measurement error.
