STORYTELLING



WHAT DOES STORYTELLING MEANS? It is a powerful methodology because it is motivating and enjoyable. The first step is to choose a story (significant for its topic, graphic, language used..). Children don't have to understand everything in the story, but only the GIST (the general idea)

WHAT ABOUT ITS GOALS? linguistic

exercise for imagination developing of fluency
using the language in a context

2nd phase:
DURING THE STORY

I animate the story( ex. using my voice, visuals, realia..)
I tell the story many times.

3d phase:
POST READING

It is an important phase used to ACTIVATE CHILDREN. Activities I can do after telling the story.
(Ex.:
I can suggest to dramatize the story
I can give the sequences of the story to children and they can draw a storyboard, describing it to their class mates.
I can suggest to rewrite the story
I can create a memory
game about the story with my class (..)
I USE MY IMAGINATION AND CREATIVITY!!!


Pay attention to the lesson structure!


If I want, I can INTRODUCE NEW WORDS
ex. using the magic box/ flashcards..

MAIN ACTIVITY
Ex. Listen and point, Listen and colour,
Reading a story,
Preparing a Lapbook,
Watching videos..

DRILLING
It is useful to memorize new words
ex.using of flashcards

REMEMBER TO WRITE A LESSON PLAN! IT WILL HELP YOU!

WARM UP
It is used to break the flow, it is a way to say that it is english time!
It is also useful to revise something or to create a routine.
Ex.:Game "Bang". "Simon says"..

CHILLING UP
It is a way to finish a lesson
Ex.: Songs, Angry shark, Rock/scissor/paper...

WHY I CHOOSE STORYTELLING I love books and i'm really passionate about reading books to children. I usually introduce new topics by reading a story to my class.

1st phase:
PRETELLING
:
I prepare the set (first creation of interest and curiosity): I can use a song to prepare the mood;
I can show the cover of the book and ask questions
about it (..)

The first time:
I tell the story. I can stop to ask questions to check comprehension and to work on prediction

The second time:
I involve children in an active way
