        sample size- amount of info stored in sample :
    - - balancing the need for sound quality against available RAM and hard disk resouces
      - Settings appropriate recording levels to get to a high-quality and clean recording
    - - Splicing & assembly- to remove the extraneous noises that inevitably creep into a recording
      - Volume adjustment- select all data in the file & raise/lower the overall volume
      - Trimming- removing blank space from the front of a recording & unnecessary extra time off the end
      - working on multiple tracks- able to edit & combine multiple tracks & merge the tracks & exports them in a 'final mix' to a single audio file
      - resampling/downsampling- you must resample/downsample if the sounds at 16-bit sampling rates but using lower rates & resolutions
      - fade-ins & fade-out- to smooth out the very beginning & the very end of a sound file
      - equalization- to modify a recording's frequency content so that it sounds brighter or daker
      - time stretching- alter teh length of a sound file without changing its pitch
      - DSP- to process the signal with reverberation, multitap,delay,chorus,flange and others
