Nationalism
Competition led to the Archduke’s assassination due to Pan-Slavism nationalism. Because every state was motivated by their “own self-interest and success”, their attitudes made war seem as the only way to prove they should have power. War was unpreventable

Schliffen Plan
The Schlieffen Plan was made by the German and was an attack plan on Russia but mostly on France. It would’ve been a way to avoid to prevent but it failed. It deployed most of its military to France.
Propaganda
People were using propaganda to trick people into going into the war. It was in music, it was in movies, it was in posters, etc. It made the war desirable to many.

Shell Shock (PTSD)
PTSD back then known has shell shock was discovered when soldiers would return from battle deaf blind mute and paralyzed. Many couldn't talk about it since people would view them as being weak and cowardly

There were not many treatments back then but now there are many new treatments and an awareness of mental health

Hitler was upset about the consequences Germany faced in the treaty, therefore he started to fight back against it and gained support from other germans.
