Corticotropin

Mechanism of action

Acts through stimulation of cell surface ACTH receptors which are primarily located on the adrenocortical cells , stimulation of the cortex of the adrenal gland by corticotropin and then boosts the synthesis of corticosteriods

Indication

Treatment of infantile spasms ,multiple sclerosis and asthma

Contraindications

Hypercortisolism

Chronic heart failure

Adrenal insufficiency

High blood pressure

Inflammation of the esophagus

Metotropin

Mechanism of action

Metropins contain follicle-stimulating hormone and Luteinizing hormone ,Metropins prepare the ovarian and testicular function, the combination of FSH and LH stimulates follicular growth and maturation.

Indication

used for multiple follicular development and ovulation induction in patients who have previously received pituitary suppression

Contraindications

Uncontrolled thyroid and adrenal dysfunction

Ovarian cysts

A high FSH level

Abnormal bleeding of undetermined origin

Side effects

Vaginal bleeding

Fever

Headache

Pain at the injection site

Breast tenderness
