WWI PROPOGANDA
PROPAGANDA DEFINITION: The means of spreading ideas and opinions through the uses of pop culture and everyday life for the purpose of either helping or injuring a cause.
PROPAGANDA IN POSTERS is the most well-known form. It was an easy way to convince, and guilt people into joining the war because anyone could paste a poster anywhere.
PROPAGANDA IN FILM was also a way governments could spread pro-war messages. Universal was one studio that reflected the American government's views even before the U.S. joined the war.
PROPAGANDA IN MUSIC was one of the most effectful, yet subtle forms of propaganda during WWI. Soldiers sang anti-war song parodies to trash talk about the war and spread their beliefs amongst ranks. On the homefront, governments would target concert halls, a popular hangout spot at the time in western culture, to introduce new patriotic songs to the public.

WHAT CAUSED WWI?

Historians say that the war was not caused by the Assassination of the Archduke, but that was just the tipping point of years of tension.
AFTEREFFECTS OF WWI
PTSD affected most, in not all WWI survivors particularly those on the battle front (such as the trenches). It is treatable, but not curable.
The need for women in World War I allowed the gap of gender inequality to shrink and gave way to what eventually became the Women's Rights Movement, shrinking the inequality gap even further. Women were given more responsibility than ever before since they were pretty much running the world back on the homefront.
WWI hit the Middle East especially hard. The borders of Middle Eastern countries were completely rearranged when the Ottoman Empire fell, and the social, economic, and psychological changes still effect the region today.
TREATY OF VERSAILLES:
THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES was a meeting of the World's nations who were involved in WWI. They met in Versailles, France to decide on a peace treaty and to decide on who should be blamed for the war. In the end they decided on blaming Germany
Germany had to pay war reparations ($33 Billion, worth over $382 Billion today)

All of Germany's colonies were given to the newly founded League of Nations and eventually dispersed amongst different nations. The German Empire was finished, and parts of its European territory was divided up to create the state of Poland.
Germany's military was diminished to 100,000, their navy diminished to a maximum of six (6) naval ships and no subs, and they were not allowed an air force.
All of this punishment caused resentment among the German people, allowing for the rise of Adolf Hitler and eventually, WWII.
From the Treaty of Versailles also came the League of Nations was the first worldwide intergovernmental organisation whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its four permanent members were Great Britain, France, Japan, and Italy, but at its largest it had a total of 58 members.
it is important to note thatFrance, Great Britain, Italy, and the U.S. were the ones to control the majority of the conversation/decisions, which is why France and Great Britain received a vast majority of Germany's colonies in Africa.
BASIC WWI FACTS:
The Majority of the fighting happened in Europe in two places known as the the Eastern Front and Western Front.
EASTERN FRONT: The EF stretched from the Baltic Sea to the South Sea in between The Russian Empire, and Germany and Austria-Hungary's territory.
WESTERN FRONT: The WF was made up completely of trenches that stretched from the coast of Belgium to Switzerland.
The war lasted 4 years (July 28th 1914 to November 11th, 1918.
DIEASE IN WWI
The circulation of disease caused as much damage as the war itself killing just as many people as those who were killed in combat
Dysentery, Typhus, and Cholera ran rampant among civilians and soldiers alike. Open wounds were an invitation for infections such as gangrene, and 25% of simple arm wounds in German Soldiers were said to be fatal.
WWI Alliances: Britain, France, and Russia formed the Triple Entente, and Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy joined in the Triple Alliance
