There first tournament that they qualified was for was 1988 in West Germany. Ireland shocked Europe by beating England 1-0 and drawing to Korea 1-1 but they still lost to the champions the Netherlands 1-0
There second tournament that they qualified was for Euro 2020 in Poland and Ukraine where they lost 3 games against Croatia Spain and Italy despite there win against Estonia 5-1 they didn't qualify to get to the next round.
There third tournament that they qualified for was in 2016 in France. They drew 1-1 to Sweden beat Italy 1-0 and lost to Belgium 3-0 which meant they qualified for the Round of 16 and then they were playing the hosts France and Ireland lost 2-1. They came 15th in the tournament.

There first tournament they qualified for was 1990 in Italy and they got to the quarter-finals against Italy and they lost 1-0 to the hosts. They came 8th in the tournament.
There second time qualified for the World Cup was 1994 in the United States and they beat Italy this time and drew to Norway 0-0 and they were in the Round of 16 and they lost to the Netherlands in 2-0 in the Citrus Bowl, United States Of America. They came 15th in the tournament.
There third time qualified for the World Cup was 2002 in Japan. It was a difficult time for the Irish because the Irish coach Mick McCarthy ordered the captain and legend Roy Keane to go back home because he was giving out about the pitches that they were training on and they didn't have enough equipment. They drew to Cameroon 1-1 and again the progressed to the Round of 16 facing Spain where Robbie Keane got an equalizer in extra time and they lost 3-2 to Spain in the penalty shootout. They came 12th in the tournament.
