respiratory system - Coggle Diagram
respiratory system
how does it work
Then through the Larynx
Goes through the Pharynx
Air enters body through mouth and nose
Passes through the trachea
Intercostal muscles contract creating more space for lung expansion
Arrives at the Bronchi ( 2 bronchis )
Muscles flatten the diaphragm
Goes to the Bronchioles
brain send signal to muscles
Arrives at the Alveolus
oxygen molecules move to the capillaries
Carbon dioxide unloads at the lungs
Oxygen is trasnported through the blood stream
hemoglobin grabs oxygen molecules
Carbon dioxide is exhaled
Parts
Nasal cavity
lung
There are 2 lungs
Mouth cavity
right bronchi
one for each lung
Trachea
left bronchi
one for each lung
Larynx
Where vocal cords are
bronchioles
Smaller branches of the bronchi
located inside the lungs
located in the Parenchyma Tissue
Pharynx
first barrier between trachea and cavities
alveoli
Located at the end of the Bronchioles
Wrapped in capillaries filled with carbon dioxide
full of red blood cells
Contains hemoglobin
Connect the respiratory and the nervous system
diaphragm
Characteristics
Trasnports oxygen to the body cells
keeps cells working
clears sytem of carbon dioxide
Keeps body alive
needs autonomic nervous system to activate
Asthma
Symptoms
Running out of air feeling
chest tightens
breathing speeds
excess mucus
causes cough
increases inflamation
causes wheezing noices
hyperventilation
treatment
inhalers
contain beta-agonist
contains corticosteroids
makes muscle relax
reduces airway sensitivity and inflamation
What happens
affects the respiratory system
Specially the bronchi and the bronchioles
