For an example of APA, I have a student who loves and excels in numbers, but has difficulty and anxiety doing simple tasks like putting on his clothes after a nap. He is always counting aloud. To teach him to put on his pants, I showed him to pull on his pants, "as hard as 100" until he can see all his toes. Then he must make sure they're all there, and count to 10.
