Teacher tries to address learning concerns through:
assistive technology
information is clearly presented
multisensory instruction
step by step instructions
make reliable rules
monitor student’s progress
be encouraging
Teacher unable to address learning concerns.
Parents are called in and consulted
Parent involvement with set tasks and homework and regular communication with parents.
If successful continue action taken but keep a clear account of student challenges with dates and times to monitor frequency and continue to encourage
If unsuccessful consult with school counselor who consults with parents again and obtain permission to refer for special education evaluation
Child is identified and evaluation must be completed and an I.E.P meetng to be held within 60 days that the district recieves written consent from the parents.
Write I.E.P: Eligibility Determination - all areas addressed relating to suspected disability to be assessed (Eligibility criteria - The criteria generally parallel the federal guidelines in defining "children with disabilities.“ [34 Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) Sec. 300.7.]

If unsuccessful in Korea this is generally the end of the line and special education is only explored should the parents request it.
