The ummah

Islamic Identity defined: it is one body with same interests and goals where ever the individual may be from.

Components of identity: Religion, Language, History, Heritage,

symbols of identity

Site: could be symbols of makkah or Masjid Al Aqsa

Time: Ramadan (Suhoor) ,Eid

Human: Muhammad (pbuh) can be seen in many mosques

Identity: the qualities and things that differ an individual from another which may be religion, ethnicity, character, etc.

characteristics: righteousness, witness upon humanity, promotion of virtue, calling to god

Expressive: to provoke something like the minarets

Multiple identities: a person can have more than one identity. (local, country, Ummah)

clash of identity: clashes can destroy and kill religion.

Religion: islamic religion shift bonds from blood and links to land and unity. responsibility is to be proud by learning and abiding by it.

replacing the language: language is important as it links to identity (from globalization) makes people of leave their roots.

being cut off from heritage: lack of knowledge of their own religion whereas knowledge on their interests is higher. destroys identity more significant in the future as roots are forgotten.

changing the religion: ike the destroying of immanallah in philipines( christianization)

reasons of decline

progress: the belief system people had, the leaders that guided the way Muhammad (swt), and the companions that paved the way for the religion to flourish as well including sacrifices, ijtihad sciences of religion

unislamic Trends: like dating

religion and politics are segregated: Islam is separated from life

islam is misinterpreted: culture and influences change the religion of islam to showing something it is not.

incompetent leaders

internal conflicts: wars between Muslims.

lack of isalmic knowledge: not being aware of things while buying, reading and looking.

Living in the Past:: Muslims that live in the past, they do not change and live a strict way of life in an ever changing life.

Arrogant: Muslims that are arrogant of their identity and religion. They are not accepting of outsiders and think what they have is better. Muslims should learn from others(like the use of trench from Persians by Muhammed (pbuh) )

Westernized:: the way of life of the person is proud of living a western life. A person who doesn't know their own language and roots compared to the western way of life. Yet they call themselves Muslim.

Incomplete: Some muslims look at certain things they can or want to do and leave the others. but Islam is comprehensiveness so they should do all as best as they can

Apologetic: Muslims who say sorry about the rules that are set in Islam.

Aggressive:Some Muslims that are closed minded and fight when talked about anything thing with life and religion as they only think their belief are correct.(e.g.Extremists)

Civilization: A Muslim who is on the middle path. They are always learning and understanding any civilization. (e.g.The way Muhammad (pbuh) lived
