Give student a space to feel safe and talk to someone about the issue. Ask non-threatening questions like, " So I see you were struggling today, need some help?" I've noticed you haven't been focusing on class well, did you want to talk about that ? " I see you've been getting upset with your friends lately, is there a way you feel you should treat them differently?"
