Diagnosis
Diagnosis: Malnutrition, lacerations- puncture wounds cause unknown, and Domoic acid toxicity.
Health Category: Biotoxin, trauma, and Malnutrition.
Three or more symptoms: Lethargic, Puncture wound in center of forehead, Lacerations - wounds, Amputation of LRF, Quiet/diminished breathing, Normal heart rate, Suspected osteomyelitis (bone infection), and Kidneys WNL.
Nutrition status: Emaciated
Treatment
Treatment plan: Recommend radiographs of head for puncture wound,
LH flipper, and chest under anesthesia. Administer seizure medication – Lorazepan and phenobarbital. Administer anti-inflammatory medication- dexamethasone. Administer anti-oxidant for central nervous system – Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA).
Samples: Some samples that they gave Leolion is Serum, nasal, blood, and rectal samples.
Disposition
Died in treatment, released/relocated, or Euthanized/ died in treatment, and cause of death: Leolion was euthanized, and the cause of his death was that he had some slight scarring on front flippers due to self-inflicted gnawing (noted in vet observations). The rear flippers presented raw flesh showing.
