Understandable Messages
In order to produce Understandable Messages, we all must abide by the Cooperative Principal. Meaning we must make our conversational contributions as required given the purposes of an encounter in which one is involved with.
These people spoke out against the norm and gave a purpose. Sadly they encountered the police and were told to stop by force but they kept on marching until they were taken down.

Language is Symbolic.
The March that essentially created this sculpture was MLK's Army who marched for peace. It is dedicated to those who stood up and created a symbol that was the Civil Rights Movement.
In Verbal Communication, words are the primary symbols that we use to represent people, objects, events, and ideas. One of the symbols created to represent an event was this object of the Foot Soldier.
