The negative is tell/ ask sb not to do sth
Eg: My parents told me not to go alone at night
It is impossible to report an order or a request like this:
told sb that clauses
asked sb if clauses
Eg: My father told me that I had to spend more time on studying.
Eg: We asked me if they could borrow my laptop.
Use the structures ask to do sth and ask for when someone asks to have something.
Eg: The interview asked to see my identity card.
Reporting offers and advice
Use offer and advise with a to-infinitive
Eg: My father offered to help me to repair my bike.
My doctor advised me to go to bed at 10 p.m.
