Did women gain or lose from Nazi Policies?
The policies surrounding women became increasingly contradictory. But overall, women lost from Nazi Policies. At the beginning (Before wartime), married women were forced out of medicine, civil service, jury duty, and the legal profession. All eligible single women who were considered to be genetically pure and of German descent were encouraged to have multiple children with selected SS men. All birth control centers and abortion clinics were closed except for stopping women from reproducing with "genetic defects". There were many benefits of being a mother like concessions on school and railway fares. While women were highly discouraged from pursuing higher education, during the war they were encouraged to go back to work and school to help.
