The Brief
Part One: Research
-
Write an appropriate headline and when typesetting it, think about communicating the meaning. Obtain teacher/stakeholder approval
Proofread the information, do not just cut and paste. You will be required to make subtle adjustments to the text while retaining the overall message. Sub-headings should be used to break-up the content (approx. 800 words)
-
Collect 5 examples of editorial design that use image and typography and explain the common elements in publication design
-
-
Document and evaluate any copyright information (legal, ethical and contractual) for any text you use from the internet and how it will apply to images you have created
Discuss with teacher/stakeholder and document in your EVD the method and stages of the design that require feedback
Part Two: Design
Generate 3 layout ideas for design, explore options and experiment, think about the opportunities and constraints
-
Present, evaluate and refine concepts to meet requirements
Refine selected concept based on feedback provided by
teacher/stakeholder, document in your EVD
-
You must use Adobe InDesign to design and produce the editorial from your selected layout design. Use Master pages, grids and paragraph styles
Identify and record in your EVD any potential issues, i.e.; ensure text is
not to close to edge or spine, etc...
-
Document in your EVD the process you used for setting type and the
process for manipulating and preparing images you’ve used in the layout
