Mind Map Climate Factors
Ocean Currents
Image
Description: 10% of oceans are warm meaning 90% are cold deep oceans, ocean Currents flow by winds, gravity, and spinning. This affects temperature because if the cold air gets evaporated, it will end up turning into humid cold air. Affecting perception by its cold air and hot air with it being evaporated.
Location: In Hawaii, the water from the ocean is hot while the oceans in Canada are cold. Precipitation is affected by is it is hot, it will be more humid while when it is cold it will be more dry.
Relief
Description: Relief affects climate because wind can still travel up mountains, hills and slopes to the top where elevation gets the air colder.
Location: In the Rocky Mountains of BC, Cities in BC give wind that travels up the mountains making it colder. The Cold air now travels down the mountain to Alberta and Saskatchewan. This is why the air is so cold there.

Latitude
Image
Description: Areas closest to Equator receive more direct sunlight. In areas farther from the Equator have less energy from the sun. This means that it will be hotter near the Equator than the north pole.
Location: In Hawaii, it is way hotter than Canada because of how we are futher than the Equator and getting less energy from the sun.
Elevation
Location: When you climb a mountain like Mount Everest, it would be very dense in air making it hard to breath as if your on the bottem breathing normally.
Image
Description: Elevation increases, temperatures turn cold. As we are going higher, the air gets dense making the particles get colder making it hard to breathe.
Air masses
Location: In the USA cold air comes from Canada, Warm air comes from Mexico. They get mixed and sometimes, they form disasters.
Description: All Warm air comes from the equator. All Cold Air comes from the poles. All gets mixed up because the earth is spinning. Everyday cold and warm air meet in the battle of the AIR MASSES!!!!!!!!!!! When cold and warm air meet they would form disasters but could also mean warmer or colder climate.

Bodies of water
Image
Description: It keeps us warmer during colder months and precipitation during the warmer months/summers. Letting the water evaporate and then giving us rain.
Location: In Ontario, the Great Lakes give us a humid summer making it not as dry without them.
