Nephron filtration, reabsorption & secretion
a. Glomerular filtration - Water and solutes smaller than proteins forced through capillary walls + pores of glomerular capsule.
b. Tubular reabsorption - Water, glucose, amino acids and required ions transported out of filtrate and back into capillary blood
c. Tubular secretion - H, K, creatinine and drugs removed from peritubular blood and secreted into filtrate
Solutes found in urine include Na, K, urea, uric acid, creatinine, ammonia, bicarbonate ions and more
