NERVOUS SYSTEM
Brain is divided into 4 lobes
Parietal
Frontal
Occipital
Cerebellum
Types of neurons: unipolar, bipolar, pseudounipolar & multipolar.
Sensory: detect stimuli.
Interneurons: bonds the sensory and motor activity.
Motor: gives electric impulses to give orders to the tissue.
Neurons and glia are the cells that conform the nervous system.
Neurons: electric impulses.
Glia: nourish and protect neurons.
Synapse: signals between neurons. (axon -dendrite)
Chemical: no physical contact.
Electrical: physical contact.
Some hormones help the brain make an electrical synapse.
Organization
Central
Brain and spinal cord.
Peripherial
Nerves
Somantic (VOLUNTARY)
Nerves
Encephalic
Spinal
Visceral (INVOLUNTARY)
Symphatetic
Parasympathetic
Involuntary and voluntary acts
Reflex: Involuntary movement.
Sensory and motor neurons are involved
Voluntary act: Voluntary movement.
Sensory, interneurons and motor neurons are involved.
Gray matter: dendrites
White matter: axons
