        Allows audience to see her character as extremely stubborn and one of the seven sins- pride
- - - - Creates sense of romantic and intimate atmosphere
        
        However this is easily broken by the inspector's appearance as the lighting becomes "brighter and harder" proving this romantic and intimate atmosphere is a façade.
      - Creates sense of rose-tinted glasses
    - - Like interrogation when bright light is shone in suspects face so they feel uncomfortable and confess, like what the inspector is doing to the Birling's
      - Lighting changes drastically like how they're night and lives will change drastically
  - - - Highlights Inspector, children and the "Eva Smiths and John Smith's still left with us"
      - Light is almost like white light on path to heaven
        
        Child who's sat on stage all performance leaves stage (my interpretation is that he's supposed to represent the unborn baby of Eva so him going to the light at the end is like he's stopped suffering due to the Birlings and he's off to Heaven- we later find out the child actually hadn't died yet until the final seconds of the play so this is him actually leaving the world)
- - - - Only went down to their level when they wanted to and had to make the stairs, like they have blocked anyone reaching them
        
        By end they are all on the stage floor, they have hit rock bottom and are no longer on their high horses
- - - - Plates breaking, literally everything is falling apart for them
      - Explosions - shocks audience, mimics Birlings' shock of everything that's happened
