The buffalo jump
This is a technique the native Americans used to catch buffalo. They would chase them o lure them off a cliff. It would kill hundreds of buffalo a once, it was a very useful technique.
Buffalo dance
Native Americans believed if they dance around their camp fire (spiritually) they would have a good hunt the next day.

Sun dance
The sun dance is when a boy becomes a man. It is a belief that Indians did to see their spirit animal. They put their body through the largest amount of pain it can handle, to have spiritual visions.
War
If native Americans killed an enemy, they would rip off their scalps so they woundn’t go to the after life.
Culture
Many Indian tribes had a group of people or a person that was in charge. They would either do what the tribe wants, or make their own decisions.
Native Americans did not always kill each other in war, the main idea wa to get close enough to the enemy to poke them with a coup stick.
Lifestyle
Woman
While men were away hunting, woman would prepare dinner and look after the children. If a tipi was damaged or broken it was the woman’s job to fix it. They made the tipis.
Men
It was the men’s job to hunt for food and to fight in battles. The men would also teach children how to hunt and fight as well.
The first farmers

They were promised a lot of land each to farm on. They were given 160 acres and only had to pay a small fee.
The journey west was very difficult though. They faced many obstacles on their way West, including Rocky Mountains, no roads, large rivers, native Americans etc. Many died trying to go west.
