Hassle to cook
Older seniors tend to find cooking a hassle if they live by themselves or only with their spouse. They feel that it is cheaper to eat out then to cook for 1 or 2. It takes time to cook, wash and they need to pay for gas and water. Eating out for them cost only $3-5 then they get to 'eat and go'.

Older seniors (above age 65) tend to be more careful about their diet due to chronic diseases that comes with age (eg high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol). Most mentioned less meat, salt and oil and more vegetable and fruits as a guide, while there are some who mentioned everything eat less or half. They need simple healthy food guides that is easy to recognize.
Eat at Home
Because it's healthier
Seniors who live with their children tend to cook for the whole family as they believe home cooked food is healthier; so they will want that for the whole family. Many mentioned home cooked food has less MSG (salt) as compared to outside food.
Where they learn from
Seniors learn about healthy eating through family, friends, TV shows, newspapers, books and their family doctors. Where as the younger generation learn from social media and through their school's PE and health education

Close knit groups
Hangs out with friends beyond the void deck. Regularly seen with friends at coffee shop forming groups like 'makan kaki' or at the market with friends. Finds joy in chit chatting, in the company of each other and doing things together. Often have outings with friends, within and out of neighbourhood.

Sleep
Sleeps well
Seniors who sleep well have a regular sleep pattern of sleeping and waking up early. They recognise the significance of sleep and how it can affect their appetite and ability to perform daily activities such as socializing with friends. Some have a regular wind down routine before sleep.
Difficulty sleeping
Due to aging
Most seniors find that as they age, its gets harder to fall asleep and to have good long hours of sleep. Some wakes up in the middle of the night unable to sleep so they will watch TV to pass the time. Some wakes up to go to the toilet or is awaken by pain their knees
