The Piano Sonata No. 16 in C major or K. 545 is a piece created by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart described himself in his own thematic catalog as "for beginners", and it is sometimes known by the nickname Sonata facile or Sonata Semplice, Sonata could be known as the music performed in the night. I personally love music created in the classic period especially music from Mozart. The piece reflects the emotion and the perspectives of the writer, music from Mozart sounds simple and clean as well as Mozart himself. There's three-movement in K545, different movements are played in a different tempo and style. The first movement is Allegro, Allegro distinguishes a movement that's meant to be played very quickly, Allegro is often used in the first movement of many sonatas, it's the main role is to build the relationship between the audience and the performers, and to make the audience interested in the music played by the performers. The second movement is played in Andante. Andante is a word used to describe a relatively slow, moderately paced tune. It is particularly common in classical music, it could be understood as the rhythm "at a walking pace". It is commonly used in the second movement of the sonata pieces to create an environment of peace and quiet since sonata is songs that are performed during the night time. Mozart used Allegretto for the third movement. Allegretto is used to creating a moderately quick tempo, which is slightly slower than allegro but faster than andante. The music structure "ABA" is often used in Mozart's sonata pieces, the last piece of the movement requires a good ending, in this particular piece, I personally think it is used to take back the attention from the audience. As the second movement is a bit longer than the first movement, the theme of peace and quiet might sound boring, therefore, using Allegretto to end the piece will interest the audience again to prevent the audience from falling asleep and create a good ending for the piece. I have been practicing the piece for a year, I pretty much enjoyed the process of practicing it. I first knew the piece from a video game could tap piano keys, then I got attracted by its gorgeous melody that keeps repeating inside my brain. I first played the third movement since it is required for the ABRSM grade 6 performance exam in 2018 after I finished practicing the third movement I decided to practice the whole song. The technique of the piece was quite hard for me two years ago, after a few weeks of practicing my fingers stopped listening to my mind, I’m quite stressed and have thought about quitting practicing the piece. After a hard time, the result I achieved is worth the stressful practice and I pretty much enjoyed my performance. Now I could perform the piece with Aj. Santi as a duo piano piece that is later rearranged by Edward Grieg. This piece definitely improved me as a pianist, it is a huge part of my musical growth.
