Nouns
people (girl), objects (candy), creatures (cat), places (hospital), qualities (roughness), phenomena (tsunami) and abstract ideas (love) as if they were all “things.”
Verbs
are words used to refer to various kinds of actions(eat, drink) and states (be, have) involving people and things in events.
Conjuction
are words (and, but, because, when) used to make connections and indicate relationships.

Prepositions
(at, in, on, near, with, without) used with nouns in phrases providing information about time
Adverbs
used with verbs to provide information about actions (quick, yesterday, really, very).
Adjectives
used with nouns, to provide more information about the nouns (a happy life).
Constituent analysis
An approach with the same descriptive aims is called constituent analysis. The technique employed in this approach is designed to show how small constituents (or components) in sentences go together to form larger constituents. For example, a girl / brings a cake / to the party.
Articles
are words (a, an, the) used with nouns.
Pronouns
(she, herself, they, it, you) used in place of noun phrases, typically referring to people and things already known.
