Agency Graphic Designer in Toledo, Ohio
Me @ Work
As a creative facing many subjective opinions, it’s normal to make mistakes and learn from them. I want to work for a place that recognizes this as a positive. I also value community. If I’m going to spend every weekday with the same people, I want to enjoy the workday with them and build friendships.
My personality is a great match for my career. I’m a Type 4 on the Enneagram personality assessment. In a nutshell, I value deep connections, emotions, and creativity. When I feel especially creative, I can spend hours doing a task and feel like no time has passed. I feel like my personality also motivates me to collaborate with others.
I believe a strong work ethic includes reliability, initiative, commitment, and development. You can rely on me to get the job done with initiative and commitment, and I look forward to what I will learn from the experience.
Having a strong code of ethics is important in my field of work, as client relationships are important. Honesty and integrity are important to build a strong relationship with clients, where they feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, etc.

I will likely be living in two-bedroom apartment for the next few years. A two-bedroom apartment in Toledo, Ohio costs about $713/month on average, while it’s $740/month in Bowling Green, Ohio where I live now.
The cost of living and food in Bowling Green, Ohio is a bit higher than Toledo, Ohio – but both are still lower than the national average.

Long Term Goals
Once I have a steady income, I would like to start investing in my 401k as soon as possible. Outside of investment, I would like to start an emergency savings just in case I’ll ever need that.
My long term financial goals are to start investing before I think I need to. Some people wait until they are older to start investing, but it takes time for that money to grow and I want to keep that in mind if I would like to retire a bit younger.
Should I advance within a company and become a creative manager (or something related), the average salary is $88,628.
I don’t see myself making any larger financial decisions in the near future, but I imagine I’ll eventually want to settle down and buy a home. This will require me to have money for that down payment as well.
Life Long Learner
As someone in a technology dependent field, I feel like I will always be learning. There will continue to be more possibilities and innovations to the tools I can use for creating projects. My goal is to continue to learn new techniques and take online courses that teach me new skills or develop my understanding of different tools/programs.
The graphic design industry is constantly shifting trends. In general, trends seem to either go towards a few themes; modern (clean and edgy), feminine (hand lettering, organic shapes, and minimalistic), or nostalgic (chunky serif fonts and muted color schemes).
The job outlook for graphic designers is slightly surprising. I thought that being in a field that more companies seem to be utilizing, that it would be growing faster than it is. It is projected to grow 3 percent from 2018-2028 which is likely due to how competitive the field can be.
I think it would be smart to pursue an additional degree or certification down the road. I think it would be important in my career to have a competitive edge and grow additional skills as a progress within a company.
