Eating too frequently, not enough, and not keeping down meals that have been consumed typically messes up the metabolic processes of the body aiding obesity along with other health defects.
Typically the root of an eating disorder is that it is something that can be controlled for the person suffering.
When it comes to binging food to numb out other feelings, obesity can follow.
Along with coping with a mental illness as serious as an eating disorder, feelings of rejection and self hate may occur further preventing social success.
Depression & anxiety disorders.
Feelings of depression/ anxiety can alter how social someone is externally.
Feelings of low self worth can arise.
This can cause the person affected to not want to do anything to help their health like take care of their body.

Women
Have an increased risk of complications for pregnant women due to factors of obesity.

Have an increased risk of health problems if their mother was obese during pregnancy.
May have fetal development issues if mother is obese during pregnancy.
Causes
Lack of exercise
Living extremely sedentary can contribute to a lack of physical exercise.
Couch potato syndrome.
Genetics
Family obesity can be a factor towards the genetic makeup of their offspring.

Poor nutrition
High calorie intake, increased sugar intake, fast food consumption, alcohol...ect.
Mental Illness
Depression, anxiety, PTSD...ect can take away a person's drive to get out of bed and be active.

Know your family history
Brush up on your knowledge for what health challenges your family has faced.
Prescreening
For individuals who have diabetes in their family history there are tests available to screen for the warning signs of diabetes and other health complications.
Get active!
Set a goal, get active, lose weight, and maintain the weight lost!
Weight loss surgery
Can resolve the risk for diabetes, but comes with health risks.
Medications
Eating the proper amount of nutritional foods
This can help with weight loss as well as increasing a persons metabolism
Watch carbohydrate, saturated fats, sodium, and added sugar intake

Being overweight is just one risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes is a disease where the body develops an insulin resistance which causes glucose and insulin to build up in the bloodstream.

Obesity is a risk factor for cancers such as: colon, endometrium, pancreas, kidney, esophagus, and breast cancers.
A high fat intake diet correlates with the development of cancer.
With a high amount of consumption of fried foods, one may consume a large amount of acrylamide. When acrylamide is metabolized it may damage genes and produce mutations.
Cardiovascular disease
The leading cause of death in the United States.
Obesity is a risk factor to cardiovascular disease along with many other risk factors.
Obesity leading to cardiovascular disease can be modified to prevent the disease from developing.
Hypertension
Obesity raises blood pressure by altering the kidneys in some way, by increasing blood volume, and by promoting blood vessel damage through insulin resistance.
Obesity and high blood pressure greatly increases the risk for cardiovascular disease.
Problems with cholesterol
high LDL creates problems such as rapid development of atherosclerosis.
Higher risk of stroke
Some risk factors for a stroke include: obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
