        The Battle of Somme was a operation between the British and French forces trying to gain victory over the Germans.
        Battle of Verdun was one of the bloodiest, longest, most aggressive battles of the war. French repulsed a major German offense.
        All these battles affected the war by causing more destruction and chaos and tension during tough war times.
