Traditional (past) uses for the North shore and Auckland.
How did people live? What did they do? What was the area used for - businesses? Work, social/entertainment etc.
Think about our trip to Browns Bay.
Research, symbols, facts and figures. Remember to put in references.

When we went to our trip in browns bay, I noticed that most buildings were taken down or replaced. More people were out and about and the area was used for entertainment, and there were smaller more icolated roads.

I think in the past people lived in smaller homes and they probably used the town for farming. The town was used for some social entertainment and work.

People most likely lived in very small houses, and used the land for public services and farms, They also even built an ice rink in the 1950's, when we on our trip to Browns Bay, I realised many of the old buildings have been replaced, and most businesses already shut down.

From their guest house, the Browns ran the first local store as well as the postal services. In 1916 the Browns sub-divided their property, giving visitors the opportunity to buy their own piece of paradise for a mere 100 pounds. As the number of properties grew so did the transport systems. By the 1920’s there was a regular bus service connecting the ferry at Bayswater
In the past the would use horse and carriage and there business work would be digging for gold in gold mine

i think most people had small houses and some probably made there house. the land that browns bay was made on had poisonous plants so nobody wanted to live there everyone most likely had hard jobs that gave them barely any money. the buildings and the population has changed massively coursing more people to come, so i think in the farture most there will be alot of apartmeants but also alot off cafays etc.

In the past I think people lived in smaller houses and didn't have much land area but more farm area. Also most people who worked around the area were probably farmers.
Aidan. i think that people would have got around on a horse and cart most of them would grow crops and make there own houses.
Early 20th century little baches were built along the beaches on the North Shore. In Browns Bay these were removed and parks were built and now there are also shops.

In the past The Brown family who gave the bay its name moved to the area on a sailing cutter in September 1876 from their previous farm in Mt Albert. Peter Brown initially purchased 136 acres of flat land which was then covered in tutu, fern and ti-tree.
I think that people used to live in small houses and had jobs mainly for farming because the land at that time was used as farm land that time. They would travel by carriages being pulled by horses or just walk. Cars were just a new thing at that time so not many people had them, mainly because they couldn't afford them.
