        Influences: Self-confidence(when interacting), Expectations (of peoples behaviour towards us), and Interpretation (of their behaviour towards us)

      - Prevents us from perceiving fully and accurately
      - Physiological and Psychological filters
        
        May be situational or permanent
        
        Physiological- Limits or distorts our physical observation
        
        Psychological- Limits or distorts our interpretation of our observations
        
        Situational: eg. If you are hungry, you'll take more notice of food smells than usual
        
        Permanent: eg. A colourblind person will not perceive the same range of colours as someone who is not
        
        Situational: eg. If you are feeling irritable, you may perceive an innocent comment by someone in a more negative light than usual
        
        Permanent: eg. If you dislike someone, you are likely to interpret their words and actions negatively
