The bombing of both cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima was one of the greatest tragedies during World War II. After Germany and all of the other countries surrendered, Japan was still the only one standing. To make the country surrender, the US decided for the first time, to use an atomic bomb to destroy one of the cities of the country. On August 6, 1945, they dropped the bomb over the city of Hiroshima, killing between 90,000 and 166,000 people. With no response from the country, three days later, the US bombed the city of Nagasaki, killing between 40,000 and 75,000 people.
