Ms.Patterson's Theatre Design Lab
Costume Shop
The costume lab would include an area for students to sew together clothing and costumes. Including sewing machines, thread, and fabric patches for students to practice different types of hems and stitches on. They would also be able to work on costume designs, providing they are able to get their own fabric to do so.
My idea for this lab is to have an hands-on learning area for the technical side of theatre, where students can freely explore the more "backstage" portion of theatre. This gives more insight to NC Standard AE.1 for
all
9-12 levels.
Scene Shop
Paint shop
In close proximity to the workbench would be the painting area, including different materials for painting and coloring different projects
Wood shop
The workbench would be an area filled with different sorts of tools for students to build small props and model sets.
Tech Studio
Research Lab
This area would contain multiple laptops and computers so the students can research any references needed. Printers and editing software can also be found here.
Camera Studio
This area would have with cameras, greenscreens, microphones and other filming equipment the students can check out or rent to create film or photo projects with.
Light Lab
This area would consist of a small studio featuring multiple different stage lights which the students can toy with, The students would be able to hang the lights (provided they are helped), change the gels, and reposition to explore lightning within theatre.
