Geert Hofstede (1928-2020) was a Dutch leading behavioral academic/ industry expert. He is renowned for pioneering research on national and organizational cultures on a global scale (Maastricht University, 2020). Hofstede originally identified only four dimensions for defining work-related values associated with national culture: These were power distance, individualism, uncertainty avoidance, masculinity, long term orientation and indulgence versus restraint were added later(Minkov and Hofstede, 2011).
