Victor Frankenstein creates him in the attic of his boarding house. The monster is appalled by his own creation, and leaves, alone, to wander through the wilderness. He eavesdrops on conversation where he learns to speak eloquently. He befriends the blind father of the family, but the rest drive him away. He saves a girl from a river, but is shot in the shoulder. He then seeks revenge on Frankenstein, killing his brother William. The monster asks for a female creature, and he will leave. Frankenstein makes the creature but ,shortly after, destroys it. Frankenstein's monster sets out on a secondary path of revenge, killing his best friend and his fiancee. Frankenstein tries to destroy his monster in the Arctic Circle, but falls in to the water and develops pneumonia. The monster is distraught and leaves, never to be seen again.
