SCIENCE: Changing the Way Things Move
A pitcher will throw a ball
There are many ways to throw the ball
You can throw it fast/ slow/ really far...
The pitcher is going to throw the ball to a batter
When the ball had been thrown to the batter, it will hit the bat
And the ball will change its direction
We can change the ways things move
Some boys are playing soccer. And they're trying to take the ball
They can change the way that ball moves
They can hit it fast/ slow...
If a boy put his foot in front of the ball, he can even stop the ball
There are other things that change the ways things move
Friction
Example: If we put our hands together and rub, they will get warm. They get warm because of friction
Friction is when things rub against each other
Friction can slow things down
Example: When you are riding a bicycle on the road and then ride it on the grass, it will be harder. Because grass creates friction
There are many kinds of friciton
Air also create friction
Another kind of friction
If we roll a rolling pane on a smooth surface, it will roll fast
But if we toll it on a towel, it will roll slower because towel create friction
Wind can also effect the way things move
If we pretend that we are the wind and blow a light ball, it will moves
But if we blow another ball but it's heavier, it won't move as far as the light ball
So different things take different amount of force to change them
Gravity
Gravity is a force that pull things downwards
When you throw a ball, it goes straight and then curve down
Because there are more than one force
Force from your arm
Gravity
