EXPRESSING THE FUTURE IN ENGLISH
Present simple
WHEN DO WE USE IT ?
We use the present simple when an action is happening right now or when it happens regulary.The other use is to talk about habitual actions.
Depending on the person, the present simple tense is formed by adding -s or -es to the end.
EXAMPLES
Statement: You play football.
Negative: You do not play football.
Question: Do you play football?
Present continuous
WHEN DO WE USE IT?
We use it to talk about an action or a condition that is happening frequently, now, or may continue in the future
To form it: To be (am,is,are) + Verb (present participle)
Near the future: I am eating with my family after school.
I am not meeting my dog after work.
Is she seeing her family tonight?
Isn't she meeting her coach tomorrow?
Now: She is eating now.
Is he happy now?
I am studying.
I am not running right now.
Longer actions in progress now: He is not trying to become an actor.
She is preparing for her match tomorrow
I am studying so I can work.
Repetition and irritation with "Always": Isn't she always first?
He is always looking for his phone.
I don't always think that.
EXAMPLES
Future continuous
WHEN DO WE USE IT ?
It indicates that something will occur in the future and continue for an expected lenght of time.
Two different forms : " will be doing"
" be going to be doing"
EXAMPLES
You will be eating when she arrives.
Will you be eating when he arrives?
You will not be eating when he arrives.
You are going to be eating when he arrives?
Are you going to be eating when he arrives ?
You are not going to be eating when he arrives.
Future perfect simple
WHEN DO WE USE IT?
It refers to a completed action in the future. using it we project ourselves forward into the future or look back at an action that will be completed some time after now.
EXAMPLES
Completed action before something in the future: By next august I will have finished my school.
Mom said that by the time I receve the letter she will already have finished
she is not going to finish this by 3am.
Duration before something in the future: I will have been there for three months on June 3rd
By the time she reads this I will have left
Future perfect continuous
WHEN DO WE USE IT?
We use it to project ourselves forward in the time and look back.
EXAPLES
Duration before something in the future:
On Monday, she will have known you for a month.
He will have been working in the shop for less than a year by the time she returns.
How long will you have been painting when you represent your work?
Because of something in the future: She will be happy when she gets there because she will have been driving for over a day.
Future simple
WHEN DO WE USE IT?
We use it to refer to a time later than now, and to express facts
EXAMPLES
Express a plan: I will work at the zoo when I grow up
He isn't spending his weekend with his sister
Express a promise: He promised he won't leave.
I promise im here for you.
I will let you know when we land.
Express a prediction: The next year will be our year
Next year is going to be a better one.

WHEN DO WE USE IT?
We use it when we have the intention to do something before we speak, we have already made a decision before speaking.
EXAMPLES
He is not going to paint his skateboard tomorrow.
The sky is dark, its going to rain.
