Chapter 5

"And is wearing high heeled boots - just like the bosses"

"Curley, a short and pathetic man, is always desperate for a fight in which he can prove his strength"

This shows that Curley believes he is at a higher superiority than the others even though he and the others are at the same working position. This separates him from the others as the others do not have as fancy clothing as him, and shows he distinguishes himself from the other middle class workers.

This shows that Curley is very eager to show off his strength to prove to others that he is the top dawg and not to be messed around with. He is also short which is why he likes to pick on larger and taller guys.

The men then follow Curley and Slim and they go to find Lennie

Curley then demands that they go to kill Lennie

Curley rushes into the barn and finds his wife's body

Curley and the others hear a yell from the barn and go investigate

Curley bursts into the bunkhouse asking where his wife is. The others say she has not come by so Curley asks where slim is because he is not there so he thinks that slim is with his wife

He goes looking for her and slim in the barn

Slim and Curley then come back arguing because Curley thinks he and his wife we together in that barn.

Curley then sees Lennie smiling so he starts beating up Lennie.

Then Lennie fights back and Curley gets his hand crushed. After that, Carlson takes Curley to the doctor in town to get his hand checked.

“like a lot of little guys, Curley wants to show dominance over bigger men."

This shows that others men think that Curly is a sort small man that wants other bigger guys to know he's the boss and he is not to mess with.

“let the big guy talk.”

The way that Curley talks is different because he is very confident and cocky when he speaks. This quote backs this up because Curley is talking to Lennie and even though Lennie could take him out with a single flick he is still really confident that he can be the best.
