William the conquerer had marched all his men to North to destroy all livestock and crops. The North was not habited for another 16 years.
Because the northern earls attacked William and killed many of the Norman Soldiers So then William got really angry and then decided to destroy the north.

When William declared war on Harold Godwinson, Harold Godwinson had first pick for his position and chose the top of the hill and formed a sheild wall to stop the Normans from coming to the top but their wall was too strong.But then william came up with an idea where he was to disappear and make his army look vulnerable and then Harolds army retreated from their hill and started to chase down the Normans. The Normans had created a trap for the englishand soon eliminated harold with the rest of his army.
