Is the email going to those who really need to see it?
Is your subject line relevant to the right people? with it get people to open it?
Have you greeted the receiver or reader?
Have you structured the email with only relevant information?
Is the email brief and direct?
Are the words used appropriately and free of ambiguity?
Is the text presented in a professional style that is appropriate to your read and your organisational brand?
Are any attachments relevant, and appropriate in size and technical content?
Are hyperlinks live? have you sighed of with a salutation(kind regards or thanks)? are your name and title clear? are there further contact details?
Impacts of different types of communications
Email. Email is a less costly means of communicating as well as convenient and less time consuming. Email is useful for keeping record if any documentation is needed.However, email can also be used inconsistently such as avoiding issues, being information overloaded, is not used as private means. referring to there is documentation.
Videoconferencing. video conferencing is a effective method of gathering a group of people to either hear,see,solve problems. although that is the case,it also has draw backs such as, need training in handling the equipment needed for the conference call as well as lighting, sound and bad body posture can result in an ineffective way of communicating.
Teleconferences. Teleconferences is the same as video conferences as it is less costly and allows for people to hear/solve a problem. the disadvantages are, individuals who are not confident in speaking can have difficulty, people can be distracted while in the conferences and there can be talking over each other or barely any talking at all.
Web conference. The same as before just that it can be frustrating when there are technical errors.
Websites. Websites are a costly method of communicating, they can be design for a variety of people. They can be updated quickly provide relevant information and are easy to access. Web sites depend on the user to find the information which can be a struggle as users could lose interest.
Media convergence is an ongoing process that include technological, economic, social, or organic, cultural, and global convergence. Here are the five categories to media convergence.
Technological convergence is the digitisation of words, images, sound and video. which has allowed media content to be more easily shared and accessible across multiple platforms and devices.
Economic convergence is the concentration of media ownership. as a few large company's who control a large cross section of media company's. for example with the movie industry they use media platforms to advertise there movie. on Facebook, you tube, ads, magazines and publishing to help launch there movie and other related products such as books, games and toys of the movie.
Social or organic convergence is consumers have learned new skills to adapt and cope with these new mediums and media for technological devices so that they can use them.
Cultural convergence has been led by user-generated content. this refers to ;the explosion of new forms of creativity at the intersection of various media technologies, industries and consumers'. This refers to the comparison of how traditionally media was content produced by media organisations for consumption of mass audiences. however, today people make there own content such as blogs, images, posting there own videos or by other peoples content by liking ,tagging and sharing the content to others.
Global convergence is the migration and circulation of media content around the world and as a result has led to many collaborations, interactions, and cross fertilization of ideas between cultures. thus resulting is sharing ideas and influencing the media content
Info space for strategic business communication
Intranet. A private network that is not open for the public. Most company's that use these are, University's, large organisations and other organisations. the purpose if for information to stay within the organisation or university.
Extranet. is similar to the intranet as it is also shielded from the general public but it is accessible to people outside the company
Internet. An interconnect computer network system, which is accessible to the public and enables global communication
Consider Everyone
It is stated that successful teams are when everyone has been considered and taking into account there strengths and weaknesses. For example, if you walk to a meeting with your team you would take in consideration your slowest walker as it will be that persons speed that will be the best indicator of when you will arrive.
It is important to always consider people in your group. such as, do they have a disability? is the language used not there main language? What do they struggle with?
Priestly paradox
Priestly's paradox refers to the progression in technology communication is a good thing. Priestly states just because the quantity of communication has increased does not mean the quality has. this refers to lacking the ability to communicate in face to face or over the phone.
Eunson, states that regardless of the means or method of communicating individuals should be clear, correct, comprehensive, concise, credible, considerate, courteous and conscientious
This allows for a more effective and appropriate means of communication.
